PINK SATURDAY 3-27-2010

I've been away all week visiting my daughter and her family, so this post is pre-scheduled.....

I'll be visiting Pink Saturday posts as soon as possible!

If you have ever spent any amount of time here on my little blog, you know that I have a huge fascination and attraction to antique mirrors.

Today I'm showcasing one that I recently sold on eBay that I feel is such a spectacular example of the Art Deco time period and since it is also a wonderful peachy rose color, I thought it might qualify for
PINK SATURDAY!

Peachy Rose Colored Glass, Reverse Bevels, Convex Bull's Eyes....

what more could you ask for in a mirror?
I collect wedding cake toppers and this is the only one I have that has the bride wearing a colored gown.
Its peachy rose color coordinates just perfectly with the mirror.

It is quite old and scuffed here and there but I sooo love it.

With me, it is all about the DETAILS, and this mirror has amazing details, don't you agree?!?

Please visit our terrific hostess for PINK SATURDAY, Beverly of How Sweet the Sound! Tell her hi and thank her for hostessing this ever popular event, then visit as many of this week's participants as possible!!

Is It Spring YET?? REALLY?!?!

View out my front door this morning......

Remember I live in TX ~ where we were wearing shorts and t-shirts day before yesterday!

Our front yard.......love how the tree has snow on only one side.....

My little tree reminds me of a gianourmous ice cream cone!

View from our top stair landing

All you can really see of the car is the rear view mirror

Sissy wants to know if this is what is called a "Blue Norther"?!?

Rosie just can't wait to get back inside and be blow-dryed!!

I'm a pushover for rose garlands!!

It just doesn't get any better than a vintage pink ROSE covered casserole,
softly lit by pink tapers in silver candlesticks
atop an antique diamond beveled mirror
used as a plateau
on a pink damask tablecloth, now does it?!?!

Well, it DOES get better ~ I just won a very generous giveaway from Paula over at

This terrific BELLA COTTAGE sign will soon have a place of honor in MY home!!!

Paula has a terrificly gorgeous blog and she often features many of the lovely signs she creates and offers for sale here in her Etsy shop or here on her website. She offers wonderfully aged handpainted signs with such a unique French inspired feel to them, just perfect for Shabby and Chic, Romantic, Parisian Hotel-esque charm! She even takes special orders and many of her designs are sooo perfect for weddings, holidays, and special gifts. I fell in love with her work the first time I visited her blog and feel certain that this Bella Cottage sign will not be the only one of her creations that I will possess! I will be certain to post pictures of my new sign in its new home when it arrives!

I have found THE most wonderful blog that I would like to share with all of you. Found in a quick visit to other PINK SATURDAY participants was The White Bench. It is a  blog just chock full of yummy pictures and Monica loves sooo many of the same things that you and I do. Plenty of sweet pinks and awesome whites abound both here and at her lovely website of the same name, The White Bench. I am simply smitten with her mohair Bear Pin Cushions (especially Brittany....now I wonder why?!?) and her new line of fashion totes that will soon be out!

She loves jewelry, flowers, all manner of vintage items, soft colors, and best of all ... she loves and frequently features her adorable dog, Kim!!

SILVER SUNDAY 3-14-2010

For this Silver Sunday post, I'm sharing an arched top antique mirror that I no longer have. In a weak moment I sold it, thinking surely I would find another like it eventually.

Well, in the antique mirror business I have learned you almost NEVER find another exact one, and often when the size, beveled cuts, shape, or other distinguishing features are very unique, you may NEVER ever EVER find one again! They are called antiques for a reason, right?!?

But the above one is precisely what I need now to finish up my stairway grouping of mirrors so I will continue to search, and I've kept this picture to pine over in the meantime. I want the arched top, the original metal fleur clips, the scallop bevels, the clarity.......I just want it all!

This gravy / sauce boat is one of the few pieces of hotel silver that I own. I just love its slightly tarnished look. It has definitely been used LOTS thru the years. I usually keep my handled decorative paper punches in it but thought it might photograph better without them in it!

Any fun-lovin' TX gal needs a PINK and BLUE  Silver Cowgirl necklace, right?

I'm going to give this sweet sterling heart charm to my granddaughter.

I have never smoked and thank goodness my husband quit about 4 yrs. ago, but I cannot bring myself to part with this vintage silver lighter. Its soft curves and Deco design are so interesting.

My last silver offering today ~ Gotta love the silver rhinestones all around the neck!!

I plan on spending Sunday evening visiting our dear hostess Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal and all the other Silver Sunday participants, too. You will be amazed at all the beautiful things they share each month!!

Big Hugs,
Stephanie

PINK SATURDAY 3-13-2010

For this windy PINK SATURDAY, I'm choosing to share an antique European metal framed beveled glass mirror in my family room.
It is Paris Apt. Chic and just perfect for showing off my vintage handpainted PINK and Red Roses pitcher.  I love the ormolu topper on the mirror with its aged patina.

A sweet pink roses bud vase, pink floral reticulated plate, and candle

These next few pictures just scream jelly beans to me.....
