Ghouls on the Lawn Pt. 1

Our town has THE prettiest home subdivision that looks like something just out of another era.
Beautiful homes on lovely winding streets with tons of HUGE trees, sidewalks, commons areas, and a fountain that is to die for.

The area hosts many special events thruout the year, one being a Halloween event named Ghouls on the Lawn. Lots of wonderfully decorated homes, tons of fun costumed neighbors, a magician, dancing, live d.j., BooTanical Gardens, a marshmallow roast complete with ghost stories, performing dance troupes, pumpkin decorating, and trick or treating.

This handsome lil guy was a real trouper ~ stayed in his stroller for hours, just smiling and waving!!
Come along with us for a quick tour..........

I really do love a man in uniform ~ even if he's a pirate..........

This lady was a hoot ~ she was either totally tanked or really REALLY likes to camp it up! I am quite sure she needed something to bring her down at the end of the night!  In any case, she was absolutely THE BEST and was so fun!

Such a handsome couple

I'm going to get you, my little pretty!

Ginormous Frank
Even a petting zoo

We weren't real sure about going up the ramp to this house.....
I'll go, but only if you hold my hand!
Petrified Little Pirate
The gorgeous fountain in the square

More pics will follow in my next post!|

Pink Saturday 10-29-2011

Welcome to our Halloween Home........

I love to cross-stitch seasonal elements.

Thought I would share a sweet little pumpkin Jack O'Lantern playing card man that I made for one of my sweetest friends ever, Miss Vickie of Visuals by Vickie. I made it for her several years ago from a pattern that sweet Mary of Isabella's Closet sells here. I sooo need to make one for myself now!!

Just a touch of pink for todays PINK SATURDAY!
For more PINKNESS please go visit our lovely hostess
Beverly of How Sweet the Sound here!

I had fun designing this slightly macabe tablescape scene a couple of years ago. I started off with ratty-tatty looking old cheesecloth full of holes and then layered from there.

On my antiqued mirrored plateau, I added a pewter raised cake stand, covered it with a shimmery black sequinned and beaded shawl and placed a ceramic skull amid fall leaves on top.

Added a cheese dome atop the skull, and went to work on the ambience. I used a five-arm pewter candlestick with black tapers and then wound black tinsel with tiny purple bats and purple lights around it.

Since I don't have any "Halloween" china (do any of you?) I printed off some bats and then laminated them and cut them to fit the border of my salad plates and attached with double-sided tape for a cool effect. Then I layered a pointed black witch's hat between the two plates.

Glamorous black satin stitched and beaded and sequined roses are very appropo.

Casper Ghost and a metal spider votive holder from Big Lots adds fun touches to the table top.

Any mummy can do this fun tablescape!!

I decided it would be fun to do a vampire & spiders theme, so I used these cute little Draculas in my crystal stemware, & attached a purple glittered spider to the rim of the glass.

The Dracula vampire test tubes come from Target & have red candy pellets inside..."Vampire Vaccine" they are called. Wouldn't these be just too cute as stirrers in some Virgin Bloody Marys?

Found the raw wood coffins at Michael's, painted it glossy black and added a cute Count Dracula ink pen that would make a perfect party favor!

My vintage teacart is ready to serve bloody libations, too!

Here is the continuation of a prior Halloween Swap hosted by Amy of Four Sisters in a Cottage. The following item was received from my terrific YOUNG partner (she is a mere babe ~ early 20's, and soooo very talented!) Lindsey of Two Crazy Crafters.

One of my very VERY favorite pieces ~ one of Lindsey's specialties ~ a terrific piece of altered art ~ a wonderful Halloween collage!! Go check out the blog she shares with her mother here ~ they are quite a talented duo!!

A dash more pink (and green toile) on my kitchen chairs, which our scary sweet black cat Muffin thinks are his!

Beverly of How Sweet the Sound is our ever loving PINK HOSTESS, so pop on over to her blog and say hello ~ she also has a list of all of this week's participants!
